My brick wall is my maternal grandfather who went by Wah Lee and was born circa 1917 in Guangzhou (then Canton), China. I have only his 1957 marriage certificate to my grandmother and his 1987 death certificate.
Family history whispers suggest he had a family prior to marrying my grandmother and that he was likely a prisoner of war of the Japanese before being sent out to Australia but I have not been able to find any record.
He also believed he was 10 years younger than he actually was before he returned to China when my mother was a teenager (circa early 1980s) and reconnected with his family (whom we have now lost all contact with). All records of his birth apparently had been destroyed in an accident overseas.
